Delhi Adds 272 SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor Bus Units to Electric Public Transport Network

New Delhi: SWITCH Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group, flagged off 272 SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor Bus vehicles from Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi, marking Phase 2 of the centralized rollout of electric buses under the CESL (Convergence Energy Services Limited) tender.

Earlier, 93 buses were delivered in Phase 1 under the project.

The flag-off ceremony was led by the Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, in the presence of Nitin Nabin, National President, BJP; Pankaj Singh, Minister for Transport, Government of NCT of Delhi; Niharika Singh, Commissioner, Transport; and Jitender Yadav, Managing Director, DTC.

The initiative highlights Delhi’s continued focus on sustainable urban mobility and improved air quality, aligned with the Government of India’s vision for “Disabled-Friendly means of transport” and “No Emission Buses”.

SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor Bus Deployment Under CESL Tender

Under the CESL tender for Delhi, SWITCH Mobility will deploy a total of 950 electric buses across key depots in the national capital. Deployment will take place in phases across Okhla Srinivas Puri (SNP) Depot, Grand Trunk Road Depot, Rajghat Bus Terminal, and other locations.

Ohm Global Mobility will support operational deployment and service readiness for the fleet to ensure smooth integration into Delhi’s public transport network.

Manufactured at SWITCH Mobility’s facility in Tamil Nadu, the SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor Bus reflects the company’s “Make in India for the World” vision by combining global technology with Indian manufacturing capabilities.

Features of SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor Bus

The SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor Bus includes an ultra-low entry design with kneeling and tilting functionality for easy boarding. Floor-mounted batteries provide a low center of gravity and improved stability.

  • Manual or automated wheelchair ramp for accessibility
  • Panoramic glass interiors
  • Fire Detection and Suppression System
  • SWITCH iON technology monitoring 140+ parameters
  • 80+ low-latency alerts
  • Dual-gun fast charging capability
  • Silent operation for improved passenger comfort

The bus is designed to support inclusive mobility for seniors, people with special needs, and parents with prams.

The phased deployment of over 200 buses from the Srinivas Puri Depot aligns with the Delhi Government’s goal of operating the largest electric bus fleet among cities.

The rollout is expected to contribute to reduced CO₂ emissions, improved air quality, and more comfortable daily commutes for bus passengers across the city.
